PLATZER, BEATRICE H.(CAPITAL REGION)

CASTLETON -- Beatrice H. Platzer, 93, died Monday, June 19, 2000. Born in White Plains, NY, she was a resident of Castleton-on-Hudson for more than 75 years. A graduate of Albany High School, she played violin in the school orchestra. She went to work on the afternoon of graduation day as the private secretary to Colonel Peter Brashear, chairman of the board of the Fort Orange Paper Co. in Castleton and was his secretary for 17 years. In more recent years, Mrs. Platzer returned to a secretarial position for Mr. Richard Everhart, chairman of the pupil personnel department at Schodack Central School District, a position she held until 1971. She is the widow of Donald W. Platzer, an Albany area commercial artist. Mrs. Platzer is survived by a son, Wayne D. Platzer of Castleton and a nephew, John R. Karlik of Bethesda, MD. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton. There will be no calling hours.
